(Greetings to all my relations! My name is Little Deer Woman).
I am Sisituwan/Wahpetuwan Dakota and Wadobana Tuwa Nakoda and I come from the Fort Peck Reservation in Northeastern Montana.
By using whimsical and out-of-this-world imagery I align with my life's purpose: to uplift and empower my people, to build safe spaces for Native artists, and to encourage future generations to lead with love and authenticity. My work ensures that my young relatives know they are not alone, that they are deeply valuable, and that there is
room for all of us to thrive freely and without shame.
About Camryn Growing Thunder
Camryn Ahhaitty Growing Thunder (Dakota/Nakoda/Kiowa/Comanche) is an award-winning queer artist from the Fort Peck Assiniboine/Sioux Tribes. Growing Thunder learned traditional beadwork and quillwork from her mother and grandmother. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in Studio Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts and is currently pursuing her MFA in CalArts-School of Art.
Growing Thunder’s body of work combines traditional and contemporary practices to create Indigenous fashion accessories and multi-media paintings.
